100 Girls

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

Year: 2008

"Adopted, supersmart, and bumped up two grades -- it's no wonder Sylvia's always felt different. But recently she's been going through some major physical changes, and they're not of the typical teenager kind.

"Sylvia has no idea why she can move like a gymnast and punch like a heavyweight, and the strange nightmares she's been having are completely freaking her out. But there are people who have the answers she's looking for, and Sylvia's determined to find them.

"Trouble is, they've already found her...."

Originally published as a seven-issue minseries by Arcana Comics, then collected by the fine folks at Simon & Schuster into the lovely volume you see here.

Art is by my friend and co-creator, Todd Demong with colors by Lucas Marangon, Cil, and Josh Perez.

Gear School

Publisher: Dark Horse Comics

Year: 2007

Here's the promo copy for the book. Which I think I wrote...

"In the future, humanity is in a seemingly endless war with an alien race. The struggle is dominated by giant war machines called Gear. Only the best and the brightest are allowed to drive these behemoths. The process of elimination begins in junior high.

"Thirteen-year-old Teresa Gottlieb has just entered the most prestigious military academy, known to all as Gear School, to try and become one of those elite. But on top of all the usual troubles that a seventh-grader has to put up with-boys, social cliques, hellish instructors-she also has to deal with three-story-tall robots and alien invasions!"

A fun piece of young-adult SF. Beautifully illustrated by my co-creators, Núria Peris and Sergio Sadoval, both of whom work for Estudio Fenix in Barcelona, Spain.

Star Wars: Infinities -- Return of the Jedi

Publisher: Dark Horse Comics

Year: 2004

This is my first published work. It's a sort of "What If?" set in the Star Wars universe.

The book collects the four-issue mini-series. So far, this is the only licensed book I've written.

It was fun to play in George Lucas's sandbox. And to blow up some Ewoks.

Illustrated by Ryan Benjamin and his studio.

SHORT STORIES

Dalton: "Promise Kept"

Published in: MySpace/DarkHorsePresents

Year: 2009

A new character by Todd Demong and me with colors by Marta Ziemnicka. The Dalton stories will be traditional Western genre tales with a twist--a female lead. In this, her first published appearance, Dalton rescues a former lover from the hangman's noose. But she may not be rescuing him for the reason he hopes.

This story is available to read for free on the MySpace site, simply follow the link above.

Gear School: "Untitled"

Collected in: MySapce Dark Horse Presents vol. 1

Year: 2008

A short to act as a teaser for the first volume of Gear School, this story shows the books hero, Teresa, giving into the taunts of a fellow classmate and accepting a dare. And what happens after she does. It's not all good.

Also available to read for free on the MySpace site, just follow the link above.
